This Privacy Policy describes how Merge ("we", "us", or "our") — operated by Amenti Apps — handles information when you use the Merge mobile application (the "App"). We have written this policy to be straightforward and easy to read.
Merge is a real-time proximity navigation app that lets small groups of people share their location with each other and navigate toward one another using a directional compass arrow. We do not operate social networks, serve advertising, or sell user data.

When you first open the App, Firebase Authentication automatically creates an anonymous account
for you. This generates a random user ID (e.g., uid_abc123). No email address, phone number,
or other personal identifier is collected as part of this process.
You choose a display name (e.g., "Alex") that is shown to other members in the same group. This name is stored only on your device (via local app storage) and is written to our servers only while you are an active member of a group. When you leave a group, your name is removed from the server.
When you join or create a group, the App periodically sends your GPS coordinates (latitude and longitude) to our servers so that other group members can see your direction and distance. Specifically:
If you enable the "Do Not Disturb" toggle, that status (on/off) is stored on our servers alongside your group membership record. It is deleted when you leave the group.
Settings such as color preferences, measurement units, and notification mute choices are stored only on your device and are never transmitted to our servers.
If you purchase a Premium subscription, the transaction is processed entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We do not receive your payment card details. We receive only a confirmation that a purchase was made, which we store locally on your device to unlock premium features. We do not link purchase records to personally identifiable information.
We use the information described above solely to:

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the UK, you have rights under the GDPR including the right to access, correct, or erase your personal data. Because we collect only anonymous identifiers and transient location data, there is typically no personally identifiable information to access or correct. Merge is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
The App requests access to your device's precise location while the App is in use ("While Using the App"). Location access is used exclusively to share your position with your current group. You can revoke this permission at any time in your device settings, though doing so will prevent the App from functioning.
All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Access to Firestore is protected by security rules that ensure only the authenticated user who owns a record can write to it, and only members of the same group can read each other's location. Anonymous accounts cannot be linked to real-world identities by us.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
